Who are the Troubadours?
The Wandering Troubadours are a small band of Glee Clubbers dedicated to leading songs at the pub, the pizza joint, across campus, and anywhere else the Glee Club is welcomed, tolerated, or has not yet been asked to leave. These hardy singing rapscallions are known the world over as the surliest singers in Iowa.
Drink Up Thee Zider
Stanza 1
Drink up thy zider, George, pass us round the mug;
Drink up thy zider, George, thy garden's well nigh dug;
Thy cheeks are glowin’ brighter from Russell Hall to Rider
And there's still more zider in the jug.
Verse
Drink up thy zider, drink up thy zider
For tonight we'll merry be;
We'll knock the milk churns over and roll 'em in the clover
The corns half cut and so be we.
Stanza 2
Drink up thy zider, George, thy's been going far;
Drink up thy zider, George, thy's getting quite a star;
There's dung all o'er thy taters and half way up thy gaiters
And there's still more zider in the jar.
Stanza 3
Drink up thy zider, George, an' get up off the mat;
Drink up thy zider, George, put on thy gurt big hat;
We're off to Maucker Union to join the Glee reunion,
And there's still more zider in the vat
Brothers, Sing On
Come and let our swelling song Mount like the whirling wind,
As it meets our singing through, So blithe of heart and mind.
Care and sorrow now be gone.
Brothers in song, sing on! Brothers, sing on, sing on!
Youth is a wand’ring troubadour, Sailing the singing breeze,
Wooing a maid on a distant shore, Over the tossing seas;
Steering by the stars above, His vessel a song of love.
Brothers in song, sing on, sing on!
Errant minstrels, thus we greet you, List to our voices strong,
With glad and open hearts we meet you In our festival of song.
Care and sorrow now be gone,
Brothers in song, sing on! Brothers, sing on, sing on!
