UNI invited to perform with LIRA Men's Choir in Warsaw
The UNI Varsity Men's Glee Club has been invited to perform in a concert with the Male Choir "LIRA" in Warsaw, Poland on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.
Male Choir "LIRA" was established in 1990. Members of the group come from secondary schools and colleges in Warsaw. The choir sings over 60 pieces of sacred and folk music, and all repertoire is sung a capella.
The Warsaw choir has given hundreds of concerts in churches, concert halls, cultural centers and fairs. They have performed in Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Greece, and Hungary, in addition to their native Poland.

The list of Male Choir LIRA's accomplishments is impressive.
The group has won many awards since 1994, including bronze, silver and gold "Tuning Forks" at a Polish festival in Bydgoszcz. They won 1st place in the Warsaw Sacral Music Festival "Sacrosong". They also won a Silver Diploma in the 1st Choir Olympics in Linz, Austria in 2000. And in November of that year, the group won second prize in the Polish Songs' Festival in Katowice.

The group has won several bronze medals at International Choir Festivals in Germany and Greece, and the group has won or placed in many festivals and competitions throughout Europe.

The men from Northern Iowa wish to thank the members of Choral Society "Lira"
for the invitation to join them in Warsaw on May 20, and look forward to an evening of great music.
