GCABRACF rolls through Cedar Falls
The Glee Club's Annual Bike Ride Around Cedar Falls (GCABRACF) rolled through town Sept 12, 2007.
Over 20 bike riders completed the 10 mile trek, and nearly all of the 144 guys in the group were on hand for the picnic at Pfieffer park. A new event - the hot dog eating contest - was won by Owen Sebring, who wolfed down 10 hot dogs in 5 minutes. Brats and potato salad were prepared and served, no small feat for such a large group. Many of the traditional Glee Club songs were sung after the meal, including such classics as "The Fireman's Song", "The Yogi Bear Song", "The Lane Smith Song" and "Lulu". All had a good time, and the new guys experienced the camaraderie that makes the Glee Club great. The GCABRACF is a tradition that was started in the early 1990's by members of the Glee Club, and former director Bob Byrnes. |
