Dr. Les Hale returns to guest conduct April 11
Dr. Les Hale has been invited to be Special Guest Conductor for the Glee Club's Annual Spring Concert, April 11, 2007.
A UNI professor emeritus, Dr. Hale was the first director and founder of the UNI Varsity Men's Glee Club. He will take the stage to conduct the 106 voices of the current group. "Brothers Sing On" will definitely be on the repertoire. The current Glee Club members are looking forward to being part of this special event in Glee Club history. In December 2000, The UNI Varsity Men's Glee Club invited Dr. Hale to return to UNI and guest conduct the Glee Club and alumni, in celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the group he founded. At that time, Dr. Hale said, "What a privilege and joy it is to return to guest conduct a couple of numbers with that massed Glee Club! They literally filled the stage and their voices filled the auditorium!" Dr. Hale founded the Glee Club in 1960. The Glee Club's Annual Spring Concert will be 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Admission is free. To hear an MP3 recording of the Glee Club rehearsing "Brothers Sing On" with Dr. Hale, go to: Alumni & Friends > Media Archive > 2007 Rehearsal Recordings (http://www.unigleeclub.com/alumni.phtml?p=media_archive) and select "Brothers_rehearse w_Dr Hale.mp3" |
