Glee Club celebrates with year-end banquet, new council members announced
The Men's Glee Club wrapped up the spring semester with an annual banquet at St. Stephen's Student Center, Wednesday, April 22, 2009. LHEF board members Matt Harris, Steve Heinle, Matt Patterson and Adam Riley hosted the event. After the catered dinner, graduating seniors and grad assistants were presented with a framed print of the the 2008-2009 Glee Club. Graduating seniors included Sean Carey, Andrew Gelbowitz, Dirk Hellige, John Mataya, Andrew "Bill" Reif, Owen Siebring, Jason Senchina, Danny White and Bobby Williams.
Graduate assistants Jamie Kelley and Teale Burford were recognized for their considerable contributions to the group. Jamie was presented with a gold lapel pin, and Teale was given an embroidered club polo. Both were also presented a framed print, and a DVD of the Glee Club's 2005 documentary "Brothers Sing On - The Road to St. Peter's". Student assistants who helped lead the group this semester were Bobby Williams, Colin Rail, Evan O'Leary, and David Hoobler. They helped the group by leading sectionals and serving as accompanists. Seniors Sean Carey, Andrew Gelbowitz, Dirk Hellige, John Mataya, Owen Siebring and Danny White were presented with Senior Longevity Awards. This new award (a gold lapel pin featuring the Glee Club shield logo) was given to those members who have been in the Glee Club for four years or more. Five new Glee Club Council members were announced for the fall 2009 semester: Kenny Bruner, Nathan Crozier, Chris DeRegnier, Cory Derringer, and Tyler Tweeten. After the awards ceremony, the Glee Club was treated to a premiere performance of "Ave Regina Coelorum", a new piece written by Danny White, as performed by the UNI Men's Camerata. The Glee Club sang "Brothers Sing On" before adjourning to Neighbors Pub and Grill for the final seminar of the semester. |
