Annual Tours & Spring Concert
During years when the group is not touring Europe, the Glee Club often travels and performs in the state of Iowa. Touring means a great deal to the Glee Club and its members, and we do all we can to make sure every member can participate.
The 2004 European Tour, the Glee Club traveled to Austria and Italy, culminating in a performance at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. In 2005, the Glee Club traveled to southeast and eastern Iowa, in a whirlwind tour of eight performances in three days. The 2006 European Tour was the Glee Club's first tour of Ireland, Wales and England. The photos on this page were taken at the ancient ruins of Ruthin Castle in northwest Wales. The 2007 Iowa Tour was ambitious, with 10 performances in four days, April 21-24. The Glee Club performed in the northwest and western part of the state. The 2008 European Tour included concerts in Poland and the Czech Republic in May. This was the group's first venture to Poland, with concerts in Warsaw, Krakow, and Łodź. The group enjoyed 2 concerts in Prague, including singing for the high mass at St. Vitus Cathedral in that capital city. The Glee Club toured the Czech Republic in 2000. The 2010 European Tour focused entirely on Italy, and featured unforgettable visits to Rome (including the Glee Club's 4th performance at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican), Assisi, Siena, Florence, Perugia, Padua and Pisa, with a return to the amazing city of Venice. The Annual Spring Concert is truly a "home" concert for the Glee Club. Performed in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, this concert is often free to the public. The performance features repertoire from the Iowa Tour or the European Tour. Graduating senior members of the group are recognized during this performance. |
